The North London Adoption and Fostering Consortium (NLAFC) is a partnership of six North London local authority boroughs; Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Hackney, Haringey and Islington.

It is a partnership with a wealth of fostering experience providing extensive training and support. The consortium members all work together to provide increased placement choice and improved long-term outcomes for all of the children and young people in foster care.

This partnership enables the services to share resources and you may foster a child from any of the consortium members. The sharing of placements helps reduce gaps between placements for foster carers and increases access to support services for not only foster carer but for adopters and special guardians too. Carers who foster for any of the consortium boroughs may attend training run by any of the services.

By fostering for a local authority you also get access to other support teams such as education and health that work with fostering under one roof. Also the young person’s network will be local so you will reduce the travelling times to school or to contact with the birth family.

Each service may be structured differently but all consortium members provide you with a dedicated social worker, ongoing training, 24-hour support, generous fees and allowances and a rewarding career that can change lives.
