The fostering team has just finished producing two new films aimed at recruiting carers for teenagers and parent and child carers. The project is part of the North London Fostering Consortium, a partnership of six North London boroughs; Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Hackney, Haringey and Islington.

The shoot took place over a single day so it was a hectic and intense experience! The films involved two consortium foster carers, Molly and Vaz who were not only the stars of the show but were also on hand to help with script edits on the day.

The first film focuses on the increasing need for foster carers for teenagers across the north London area as the over 11 age group now makes up over 60% of the foster care population. The other film helps to introduce the new parent and child scheme where you look after a young person and their baby as they get used to coping with their new addition.    The films will be available to view on the consortium website and also the consortium YouTube channel.

Working together in this way means the consortium’s six local boroughs can provide increased placement choice and improved long-term outcomes for young people. It also helps reduce any gaps between placements for foster carers. If you would like more information on either of the schemes you can view the consortium webpages here
